Ski day 1: Bluebird and views of the the Dolomites

Everyone was down for a 7.30am breakfast. Lots of chatter and anticipation of what the day will bring. The students filled up on a lovely mix of cakes, pastries and yogurts. Lots of fluids and off we went.

Groups are now skiing. Our new skiers are with Luca and beginners are with Marin.

And who is this on the floor?

All groups have done a fantastic job this morning. Instructors were very impressed. We got an extra instructor to help our novices progress more easily. Everyone has eaten. Lovely choices for everyone;

pizza, lasagna, pasta, sausages, frankfurters, chips and drinks.

Group 4 Antun aka Bubi's group, started the day warming up on some friendly blues.

We are well into the afternoon session. Luka group 1b are doing their first chair. Group 1a and 1b have been brilliant on the chairs and enjoyed the challenge of the Rindole run. It's so great to see, well done you lot!

Marina group 2 at the top of the quad chair... they have done the chair lift a number of times today and conquered both Rindole and Variante Rindole runs today. Nice work guys! 

So far all of 1b have done the chair with Luka brilliantly.

At the end of day one everyone has done a chair ride! As Warren Miller said, "once you take your first ride up a lift, your life will be changed forever" I wonder how many now have the ski bug?

Group 3 Martina's group, they took the number one gondola to the mid station and skied down Pista Commune and Cacciatori 1. This afternoon they have taken the gondola to the summit and skied down a series of red and blue slopes. This is great going, well done all!

Group 4 Bubi. Spent the day exploring the area, going up to Cima Paganella for some breath-taking views, Llamas and beautiful snow. Coming down off the top was a challenge due to the time of the day and the conditions were to quote Antun 'a bit of everything' but they all successfully made it down to the bottom. Well done group four!!

After a successful day for all on the slopes we de-booted and headed back to the hotel for chill out and showers before going for dinner. Tonight's culinary delights consisted of parmesan risotto, chicken and chips (alternative option for our vegetarians) and a yummy dessert. All students and staff looked suitably fed and watered at the end of the meal. We have just finished our splat and dude vote off for tonight- there were some strong contenders for both however; the winner's for tomorrow's dude is Aishah for being calm, collected and encouraging everyone all on the slopes whilst the dude goes to Mr Lilley who had nominations from every group member for epic falls and getting lost out- never mind Mr Lilley!!
