Homebound

Well we are here at the Calgary Market Mall.

The students were well organised and we managed a full breakfast at 6.30am and on a loaded coach by 7.40am.

We had a beautiful journey through the mountains. We are now shopping in a snowy Calgary.

Snow Patrol 2017

We are all relaxing in the departure lounge now and are doing the last bit of shopping. Unfortunately we have a delay of 1 hour. We are due to take off at 18.50

Boarding

Thankfully the delayed flight has landed early so we hope that we will make up some time and land roughly on time.

Scratch that! We are now waiting at the gate again. No information yet.

We are nearly all aboard. 19.05. So our landing time could be pushed forward by 1 hour 30 minutes. We will update you upon picking up our coach at Gatwick.

Look at the treat the party leaders got...

First class!

8 hours 19 minutes flight time.

Touch down! We are approximately 1 hour 45 minutes behind schedule so far.

QM Snow Patrol are on their final leg.

We will make a service stop and hope to be back at QMHS at 4:15pm.

(Parents, please keep access to the main gates clear so the coach can drive on to the car park and turn around)

It's all too much for some of us

We finally have clear skies over Panorama Mountain! We have just had breakfast and everyone is now preparing for fancy dress.

Is that a bird? No it's Eddie the eagle.

What a day, the groups had top to bottom fun. The locals loved it. Selfies galore. Elvis even got asked to model a cereal bar! We almost got away with no injuries. One last visit to Invermere hospital and a kind local Canadian got us back to the bus stop so that the complete snow patrol could be back together for our evening meal. Presentations tonight, see awards blog.

Day 4 - Race training

Another perfect day in the Rockies. Everyone was out on time once more for some perfectly groomed pistes. The weather was a mix of low cloud and sunny intervals. As the day went on we had some snow. All of this created fabulous skiing conditions.

Today was Gabby's birthday, which commenced at midnight in the uk! So her 15th birthday was to last some 31 hours. We had plenty of happy birthday renditions. The locals even joined in at lunchtime.

Day 3 - Perfect corduroy and no hand of god required

The day started as usual with a hearty breakfast. As we walked to breakfast we could see that there was a few cm of fresh snow and the piste groomers had been working their magic. The runs were simply awesome today. Lots of groups have been to the summit where conditions were even better.

We now have 100% of the group using the chair lifts.

Splat - Oliver

Tortoise - Olivia

Group 1 made their biggest move to explore the mountain. They rode their first chair lift. Mrs. Rochfort was primed to capture the carnage as they got off the lift. They also went down a wooded trail called MOUSTACHE.

Group 2 have explored more of the runs off the Toby chair and the One mile quad.

Group 3, 4 and 5 all went to the summit and explored more of the mountain. Group 3 did some bumps and worked on their carving. Group 5 focused on carving and the bumps.

Group 6 did 2 laps of Roys Run, a nice bump run, about 1km long! Dom hit the deck on a green trail without the need for the hand of god. Then in the afternoon they went for some air time in the terrain park.

Dom - straight air and a grab

During the afternoon, Mrs. Rochfort and Frankfurter took in a few runs off the summit.

After a fabulous day we went down to the convenience store on the village gondola. Girls stocked up on candy. Lauren DJ and Mr Hinks had a special chocolate surprise. They had a peanut free Mars bar! Mmmm.

After an awesome curry served up in the great hall and some exquisite cakes, Frankfurter had 7! We went to the Panorama springs thermal pools for some fun and games. A competitive quiz took place and some (un)synchronized swimming and the aqua hakka done by Mrs. Rochfort, Mr Hinks and Benny. Unfortunately they did not win but the year 10 girls did led by a very competitive Vic.

Day 2 - Snowcats on the prowel

We are just having breakfast in the Great Hall. The pisteurs have been out and they have layed lots of corduroy for us all to enjoy. Some blue sky today, so we should have some nice photo opportunities.

Today is also a special day. The whole Snow Patrol wish Lauren C a happy 13th birthday. What a place to have a birthday. Oh no! Kevin and Perry on the slopes!

Happy Birthday Lauren

Everyone was raring to go today. A good breakfast always helps. Pancakes, sausages, crispy bacon, beans, canadian omelette and all the usual cereals. All the groups had a good morning, it is believed that one of the beginner groups will be riding their first chair lift this afternoon.

Thanks Luke

Jaz, Luke and Celeste

We had plenty of wipeouts, Celeste, Party pooper, Frankfurter, Tom, Andrew are a few to mention. Splat is going to be tough tonight.

Tom launched himself into the powder, one ski off and a buried ski pole...

Mrs Rochfort!
Tonight we have a meal in the Great Hall to look forward to and the we have a movie night. A relaxing evening. Much needed after a busy day.

What a birthday Lauren! 1st ski chair lift ridden on your 13th birthday.

Movie night. Everyone is relaxing. Popcorn anyone.

Splat for day 3 is Oliver - safety net checking twice!
Tortoise is Liv - holding up her group for significant amounts of time.
Dude is Mr. Hinks - Sorting Kayleighs insurance for her fall and getting a lift back to the resort from a local Canadian.
