QM Airborne

Students were kept well fed and entertained by Air Canada on the slightly shorter flight than expected. Everything went smoothly and lots of students made new friends...

We're here!

After a really smooth flight we had a very slow passage through the immigration system at Calgary. Due to the excellent mountain weather, poor travelling weather, we decided to fuel up just out of the city. We then headed for Jasper, avoiding the passage through the ice fields for safety. Everyone got some sleep during the journey.

We are all safely in our rooms now and are getting some shut eye before our 6.30am breakfast. We will post some in flight pictures tomorrow.

The first impression of Chateau Jasper is impressive. 🙂

Let the fun begin.

The eve of an epic journey

This is simply an awesome set of conditions for the Snow Patrollers of 2019. I wish you well on you final packing. Remember your passports need to be in your hand luggage and don't be late on Friday morning!

Our hoodies have now arrived and all students should have collected them. It is recommended that you travel in them on Friday morning.

Less than 10 days to POW time!

Wow, with conditions like this we are in for a treat. Remember over this weekend mid mountain temperatures were around -30 degrees Celsius! This is the remnant of the Polar Vortex that slipped over North America's mid west. As this pushes back to the arctic temperatures should rise to seasonal averages. However this does point to remind us to be prepared. As I suggested at information evening neck scarves and balaclavas are a good idea but better are neoprene face masks. This ensures no part of the face is exposed if you use goggles.

Final reminder guys please ensure that a copy of your ETA is with your trip leader and that you have watched one of the skiway code videos.

Look at the condition now...

Not long now... In a few short weeks the QM Snow Patrol will be ripping up the slopes of Marmot Basin. What epic conditions they have:

We are in the last stages of preparation now. Departure time and itineraries will be out really soon. The images that above photo brings will soon be reality. Check out powderhounds.com lots more information can be found out about Marmot Basin and many other resorts around the globe.

Please remember that your hoodie order, professionally put together by WavePrint of Birmingham must be in school with your trip leader by Wednesday 21st January. See the proofs below:

Please remember that all skiers new and old should refresh their understanding of the skiway code. It is your responsibility to take control. If everyone does then everyone has an epic day. Ski the link to the side, watch the videos and look over the 10 rules.

Please look at the following new Snowsport England production.

If you want to be inspired look at the following video taken at sun rise recently at Marmot Basin.
